One of the things that has been a continuous theme in my life recently has been gratitude.
I am doing my best to be patient, kind and thankful, because there have been countless instances in my life where things could’ve been worse than what I believed they were. Like my living situation, for example. I do not like my apartment.  I don’t like that there isn’t enough space and that I have to share a bathroom with them dang kids  *eye roll.*  Whenever I catch myself complaining (like I’m doing right now,) I remind myself that I live directly across the street from a shelter, and that we all could be there right now. I could be living in a shelter, sharing a kitchen, bathroom and common area with a ton of other people. I could be in that shelter and have to mind the shelter curfews. I could be in that shelter, having to work twice as hard to get into this apartment that I am often complaining about.
Literally, right now, as I am writing this blog, a “thank you” email just came through from the CEO of the company I work for with great news.
There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.
Always.
With gratis in mind, KenzO and I have decided to start the show off with three good things that have happened to us throughout the week. We’ve decided to start the show off on this positive note, because we understand that there are too many people out here quittin’, and that too many people aren’t taking advantage of the opportunities they’ve been given. Too many sacrifices are being made by too many people looking out for too many people when too many people parts ain’t being played. Too many people on social media following too many pages, not knowing too many pages be on some fake shit. Too many stations cover us in negative lights, and too many blogs posting too much gossip and not enough about our plights. Too many people losing their lives to senseless violence, and it’s happened one too many times for us to remain silent. This is all heavy shit, and it makes it all too easy for us to get lost in the negatives. As I’ve mentioned before, that rabbit sadness hole may be comfortable, but it’s never comfortable for too long. At some point it becomes draining. At some point there’s too much sadness, and we gotta pull ourselves up outta there.
When you get to pulling yourself up, keep in mind that whatever battle you’re facing, whatever storm you’re in,  you’ve got too many people in your corner to be a statistic or be like too many others—you can make it! Too many people came before you, they fought and lead too many movements for your freedoms for you not to go as far as their wildest dreams and lead the next generation. We’ve all got too many blessings to be stressin’.  We need to uplift each other and hold ourselves in the highest reverence!
That’s 22 too’s for y’all.
Stay thankful. Your ancestors, your God, the Universe has you covered, always!
Always.
Peace,
April Bee
